The 300TDi (Turbo Diesel Injection) is a 2.5-litre, four-cylinder, direct-injection turbo diesel engine. It was first introduced by Land Rover in 1994 as a replacement for the aging 200TDi engine. A more powerful, upgraded version of this is now available – a 2.8-litre, which is in keeping with the original 300TDi, with some extra horsepower and torque.  While its successor, the Td5 engine, has a more modern design, the 300TDi remains one of the most cherished powertrains in the Land Rover lineup due to its mechanical simplicity, off-road capability, and longevity.

  • Turbocharged: The turbocharger increases air intake; boosting power and efficiency whilst keeping fuel consumption relatively low.

The LT230 has proven reliability, with the Defender using the 1.410 ratio, although other ratios are available to be used. 3. Axles and Differentials
